Serves 3-4
Ingredients
1/3 cup coconut sugar
2 tsp chai spice (see below)
2 tsp fresh ginger, chopped
2 tsp fresh turmeric, chopped
2 pinches salt
1/8 tsp dried turmeric
2 cups water
1 - 13.5 fl. oz. can coconut milk, unsweetened
Instructions
In a large pot combine all ingredients except the coconut milk and bring to a boil.
Add the coconut mil, lower heat and simmer 10 minutes.
Dump everything into a blender and puree until smooth.
Serve warm or chill and serve over ice.
Chai Spice

Ingredients
1/4 cup green cardamom pods
2 Tbsp whole cloves
3 2-inch cinnamon sticks
2 Tbsp black peppercorns
Instructions
Preheat oven 350 degrees.
Place the spices on a sheet pan and toast about 7 minutes until fragrant. Cool completely and grind, until the mixture is the consistency of kosher salt.
